Personality:
Asami Sato usually makes a pretty good first impression. She's beautiful, elegant, and she has a good sense about people. Asami is flirty and outgoing, but that’s only the surface of it. She’s genuinely friendly, quick to reach out to people and dedicated to looking out for the ones she cares about. Asami loves adventure and excitement. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it; something evident in her relationship with Mako right from her introduction in the show.

Asami has an intuition about people, about machines and about life in general. She’s good at thinking on her feet and quick to adapt to new situations. She’s able to quickly fight Equalists using their own weapons. Her love of excitement and her crisis management skills build on each other. Despite her father's anti-Bending prejudices, she loves watching Pro-Bending matches. More active fun usually comes in the form of racing cars or just generally driving fast.

Asami’s friends are important to her, and despite recent complications she values her connection with all of them. She put up with not only Mako's attraction to Korra but his total refusal to discuss it. Naturally she displayed some frustration over this (especially considering she had her father’s action to deal with already) but even after her and Mako’s summary breakup she makes it clear that she still cares about Mako and truly respects and admires Korra. Her tendency to emphasize other people's needs over her own added to her natural ability to forgive lets her move on quickly and focus on supporting her friends. Bolin is also a boon to her: they don't have lingering weirdness to worry about, letting them hang out care-free.

Asami is strong and not one to take things lying down. She keeps a positive and altruistic worldview even in dire circumstances. Whatever issues she may have she deals with quietly. Aggravation and frustration can occasionally boil over, but she usually manages to keep things internal. Her mother was killed by a fire bender, but unlike her father she harbors no resentment against benders. Her father's betrayal and more recently his attacking her hurt her deeply but didn’t break her. She met the Equalist revolution head-on same as any problem, charging forward as part of Team Avatar to put the world right.

Abilities:
She's a gifted tinkerer who wields a mean Steampunk Taser. Her father didn't want to see anything bad happen to her, so she's been in self-defense lessons all her life. She a quick thinker in general and keeps a cool head in combat. That’s how she’s able to turn Equalist weapons against them on the fly. Having grown up around technological revolution, she has a good head for gadgets and how to use them. She won't be building much from scratch, but she can make some nifty quick modifications and it doesn’t take her long to figure most technology out. She’s also a pretty talented stunt driver, not that she’ll get much chance to use that in Marina.

Suitability:
She isn't over the fairly immediate trauma of her dad trying to kill her yet; and while prison won't much help with that, it's something she's dealing with and the change in scenery is just one more thing to cope with. She's liable to be a bit depressed, but she recovers well. As she starts feeling better, she’ll definitely start trying harder to get out. Marina’s not gonna help her issues, but it won’t stop her from dealing with them either.

Action post sample:
So she's in jail. It isn't a complete shock to her. Amon was gone, Korra had recovered from what he'd done to her and for a few hours it seemed like all was right with the world. “Should've known it'd be too good to last,” she tells herself. It's supposed to be a joke, but she doesn't think it's very funny. She’s cut off from her friends, her country and basically everything she’s ever known. She’s miserable, she’s scared and worst of all she’s kind of relieved. With everything that’s happened lately it feels almost nice to have a get-away from Republic City (and maybe Korra and Mako). But she just wanted a break. A few days, maybe. She definitely wants go back home soon. With a tiny head-shake and a sigh, she turns back to exploring.

Sector 2 has a distinct fascination for a girl who grew up at the center of an industrial revolution. Republic City was the only city in her world worth thinking about. There you could see progress on the architect's minds. They left room to grow, patterns that could be expanded outward. The focus building this place was clearly minimalism. Seeing the new style is jarring and enchanting.

And this place has technological marvels she'd never thought she'd get to see in her life: radio programs in boxes; super-powered calculation machines that could take written input; an expansive library with books bound with spines instead of in scrolls. She'd been brought here by something, which was interesting in its own right. But whatever spirit magic or complex machinery brought her here isn't something she can figure out right away. Background research at the education center is a priority; ranking just after getting oriented.

She heads into MAHR to browse their selection of gadgets and devices. She's been shopping everywhere back home, but this is the most distractingly appealing toy store she's ever been in. Asami's determined to get away from this place, but that doesn't mean she can't enjoy looking around.

Network post sample:

[The video starts accidentally. Asami was fidgeting with this new gadget, trying to get it apart and now a this.] Oh wow. It's on.

I'm Asami Sato, from Republic City.

I would rather not be here [a little smile that says she knows everyone must feel that way] but I have to admit this is place impressive. The architecture, the thing that brought us here... and these radios with pictures. I can't believe they just hand these out.

I'd love to know how they work. [Obviously, since she's still trying to take the thing apart.] And why they give us these things and let us roam around but put us in these outfits... [She's not a fan of the orange jumpsuit. It's less flattering than it could be]

[Her voice trails off for a few seconds and her face shows deep concentration.]Well, I guess that's it. Hi.

Now if I can just find the off switch... [And there she goes again]
